Our Selection Process

Broadway DNA seeks to produce a play if it fulfills the following criteria:

As your Producer, BDNA takes an advocacy stance and champions shows by:

  • Working with playwrights to develop new work with global appeal

  • Optioning appropriate candidates for production

  • Raising production capital

  • Hiring creative teams

  • Finding venue and/or co-producing partner organizations to bring new projects to the stage

  • Recommending and promoting scripts to appropriate theatre and production companies for global licensing.

Case Study

A new musical stuck in endless readings and workshops brings Broadway DNA on as Lead Producer for an Off-Broadway premiere. By investing in the premiere, BDNA is also granted the exclusive international licensing rights. Because BDNA sees cross-cultural appeal in the storyline and characters, they front the cost of a Korean translation (of which the original author retains all rights). We are then able to pitch and secure English and local language productions faster than the average licensing agency— and with a higher quality of maintaining author artistic intent assured.
