 Licensing FAQs

  • Fill out this form and we’ll get back to you in 3-5 business days with title availability and prospective deal terms in your Country. Submitting a licensing request does not commit you to that show and does not require payment upfront.

  • Any performance of a work under copyright for an audience must be licensed, regardless of whether or not admission is charged, whether the performance is public or private, and whether or not it is for charity or gain.

Licensing your shows ensures that playwrights and composers are being fairly compensated for the use of their work.

  • It’s important to us that creators are compensated for their work, and your performance fee will be based on your performance details you submit on this form.

    • Professional licenses require an advance (or “guarantee”) of a flat fee, followed by sending us weekly box office reports to track against the Author’s royalty rate. If the royalty rate exceeds the paid advance, the Author is entitled to additional monies.

    • Amateur licenses have a per-performance minimum that will be charged to you as a one-time, flat fee.

Because our performance fees are based on your production details, filling out and submitting a license request is the only way to receive a formal quote.

Once you have submitted a license request you may cancel if you decide not to move forward with your production.

  • We accept payments via wire transfers, standard checks, and money orders for licensing agreements. All payments must be made in USD. Please note that wire transfers are subject to a $35 USD fee – include this fee in your initial transfer. If necessary, we also accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover for invoices under $10,000.00.

  • We believe being eco- and digital-friendly is the world we live in. This model also allows our writers to continue to refine their pieces instead of being locked into the version at print date. Also, and this is kind of boring for you, it allows us to have a totally different model than the other licensing houses that grants us freedom to pick up really awesome, nichey pieces. We don’t have to walk the tightrope of “will we get enough licenses to justify publishing, printing, shipping, and storing all of these scripts?” What this means for you--new, exciting options opening up that actually feel fresh instead of just having access to the same ol’ widely-producible pieces.

  • On every show’s page there’s a “Read a Free Preview” section at the top. We generate a secure copy of the script for you to peruse. You won’t be able to print or download this perusal copy, but you can check out a sample of the show. For full script perusals, please email info@broadway-dna.com.

  • Email us at info@broadway-dna.com and a representative will get back to you as soon as possible.
